Week in the Life // Sunday Words & Photos

Today will have the fewest words and photos as we end the week. So thankful for this project, and the exercise of paying closer attention to the details of our daily life. That being said, I’m tired and my family is tired. But it’s all worth it! I will most likely take a few days off before I work on the album. I might put together my full page intro photos for each day because that is one of my favorite parts. Today (Monday), I remember a few detail photos I forgot to take. For example, I wanted to take a picture of ben’s favorite bedtime story (the one we all read together). Other than that, I probably won’t take any more photos.

Sunday started off slow. The kids were up around 7am and played together for about 45 minutes before they decided it was time for breakfast. It was overcast and rained on and off most of the day, so we didn’t go outside. One silver lining of this quarantine is the hours we are spending outside. A full day inside was driving us crazy and by the end of the day I think we just felt….off.

We have a weekly tradition of Dunkin Donuts every Sunday. Mike surprised me with a green tea from Starbucks. It was heaven. I had gotten into a daily habit of getting an iced green tea from Starbucks and just stopped when all of this happened. It was part of my routine after dropping the kids off. Ben and I hung out on the deck for a bit because it was beautiful, cool, and quiet. Ben still hates pants. If we are inside, he just doesn’t wear them.

It was actually a rough morning for him. After breakfast we did a marathon of board games, including all of our favorites. As I mentioned in other posts, Ben is struggling big time with games. This morning was the worst. He was just in a horrible mood. These moods are tough on all of us.

He started to calm down and settled into quietly playing by himself. Right now that means cars, trains, magnets, or legos. He only does play food when he and Ava are playing together. Ava was reading and drawing most of the afternoon with a few cartoons mixed in for the kids. Then it was a quick dinner of pasta and meat sauce. Then bath for ben, shower for Ava. I just made it a rule that she needs to shower when we wash her hair. It’s just too hard in the bath. She has so much hair. I let them take as long as they want in the bath and they love it. Then the usual stories, snuggles, and bed.

It was definitely a challenge to photograph this week. Our like is so slow, so small right now that I wasn’t sure id be able to fill an album with interesting pictures and stories. I feel like I can now. More details and tightly framed detail shots and portraits. Part of that is not wanting too much of the house right now to be documented. One of the big downsides for me is that I’ve completely lost the motivation to clean. Obviously the house isn’t dirty and laundry is getting done….but there are stacks of folded laundry and toys everywhere.

Thank you for following along with me this week. I enjoyed putting together these posts. Good luck as you wrap up your project and your albums. Fingers crossed the work I’ve done throughout the week positions me well to complete this album in timely manner.
