Hi.

I'm Lisa. I'm a wife, mom of two, freelance writer and documenter. This is where I share bits and pieces of my sometimes crazy, mostly happy life.

Week in the Life // Saturday Words & Photos

Saturday’s are slower for us, at least right now. Outside of Covid, we’d have soccer for ben and probably cheer or baseball, followed by errands. Slower feels good and bad. It’s hard to describe. This is the first week of summer for the kids and we are relaxing some of our typical rules. Mike and I still need to talk about whether we will change Ava’s bedtime, etc.

Ava decided she wanted to draw her own version of a tinker fairy house. She looked up a movie still of the one from Tinkerbell and used it as her model. She is very into drawing and laying out houses, castles, tree houses. We watched Swiss Family Robinson the other day and she spent hours drawing her own dream treehouse.

This morning we all filmed videos to celebrate Jake’s high school graduation. He’s been extremely upset to miss out on all of the senior events and having a tough time. I love that kid so much. He was two when Mike and I started dating. Mom came over with Bodi and we had a picnic lunch outside, followed by hours in the little pool, then a bath for Bo (which was the highlight of the day for the kids), and then a walk down to the park at the end of the street. Mom of course had to work on the yard, because she always helps. I could not love my mom more. We are incredibly close and talk every day. I’m so sad they are heading back to Florida at the end of the month and ending their lease up here.

We’ve been making walks a daily thing. Mostly in the evening, but sometimes in the middle of the day. Ben desperately needs a bigger bike. Ava has been doing such a great job on her scooter and I love seeing her confidence grow. She’s come such a long way from years of physical therapy as a toddler. Today, she opted to forgo the scooter so she could be a big girl and walk Bo. Bo is about 70 pounds so mom was always close by. Man, I want to get a family dog, but the time just isn’t right. Mike is gone so much and these two are a handful. Hopefully sometime soon. Sweet Bodi, I think he’s about 12 years old now. I’ll have to check with mom. He’s starting to grey in his face and he’s slowed down so much.

Super casual leftovers for dinner. After more than five hours outside in the sun running around, we were all tired. Mike discovered you could watch the new Disney fireworks show online (Happily Ever After), so we’ve watched that the past two nights in a row before bed. Still coming to terms with a few canceled Disney vacations this year (and the big 40th birthday girls trip to Paris/Disneyland Paris). Trying to focus on the tremendous amount we have to be grateful for right now. Again, noticing fewer pictures as the days go on. There are more me on my iPhone which I’ll incorporate at the end of the week. Hope you guys are enjoying the project!
