Hi.

I'm Lisa. I'm a wife, mom of two, freelance writer and documenter. This is where I share bits and pieces of my sometimes crazy, mostly happy life.

Ali Edwards // Week 1

Welcome to 2018, week one! This is my first week with the 12 x 12 size. For 2017, I used a Studio Calico 9 x 12 album and page protectors. I loved the size of the album but figured out by the middle of the year that I needed more space. I'll still be posting 9 x 12 spreads as I complete last year's album (the second of two, actually). Documenting in 12 x 12 feels different...the balance is different, obviously, there are more photos. This week took a little longer than my typical spreads. I'm also feeling a little rusty after spending the month of December in the 6 x 8 size. Anyway, here we go.

This spread includes so many photos. I used the Ali Edwards Stories by the Month January 2018 Digital Kit and a few older AE embellishments. Our first week of January was very low-key. Lot's of time at home in pajamas, running errands, simple stuff. I also kicked off a boatload of wellness-related resolutions (very original, right?), so I wanted to include some of those details.

The title card for this week is a close-up of Ben's current obsession: Hot Wheels (second only to cookie monster). I added a digital stamp from the kit, "life right now," and the date with Dymo labels. The primary journaling card, "welcome to a new story," is also a stamp. I'm continuing with my favorite technique of journaling on vellum and stapling it to whatever card I'm using. I am getting more used to seeing my handwriting, though, and I'll probably be including that more often. The cork embellishment is the scrap left after trimming the "fun for the win" cork piece from the opposite page. I also used a photo of the lockers at FlyWheel as another space for journaling. This time directly on the photo, not with vellum. Bottom left are outtakes from my attempt to get a title page photo of myself. So awkward. I stapled a "hello" embellishment from the digital kit that I printed on inkjet transparency.

More everyday shots of the kiddos on the right side. There are so few pictures of her real smile. Sigh. I continued with a few AE cork embellishments on this side. Both 3 x 4 cards are from the digital kit. I used more vellum for journaling on the "life right now" card. I stapled another oval embellishment from the kit, "such a lovely day," (printed on inkjet transparency) on this picture from the lake at the end of our street. My weekly outside run (the rest are on a treadmill) always includes a stop here. Just a little more than a month before my half marathon...yikes! That's our week one for 2018. Hope you all have a great week!
